How it started
Winchester Electrical was founded by Rob Winchester, who built his career across a wide range of electrical work before starting the business.
Rob's apprenticeship began with a specialist heat pump company, where he developed extensive knowledge of heat pump installation, servicing, and fault diagnosis. He then gained experience wiring new homes before moving into residential maintenance and renovations, where no two jobs are ever the same.
These varied experiences gave Rob a broad understanding of electrical systems and reinforced his belief that there was a better way to run a business - one built on quality workmanship, honest advice, and genuine customer care.
Today, Winchester Electrical has grown into a team of dedicated electricians and apprentices who share those same values and are committed to delivering exceptional service across Christchurch.
Rob Winchester – Director & Chief Sparky
Since he was a young lad, Rob has been fascinated by anything electrical. What started as tinkering and pulling things apart quickly became a lifelong passion and career.
Rob enjoys solving complex electrical problems and helping customers find the best solution for their homes. Around his own property, you'll find plenty of projects that showcase his love of technology and automation, from driveway lighting to smart home features.
Outside of work, Rob enjoys mountain biking, golf, caravanning, and exploring ways to live more sustainably. With a fully self-sufficient caravan setup, there's always another project to improve or gadget to install.
Lisa Winchester – office queen
If you've contacted Winchester Electrical, there's a good chance you've spoken with Lisa.
With a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Operations Management, Lisa keeps the business running smoothly behind the scenes. From scheduling and customer communication to systems and administration, she ensures everything stays organised and efficient.
When she's not keeping the team on track, Lisa is busy juggling family life with three children and their many activities. She also enjoys mountain biking, tramping, and spending time outdoors.
Shannon Mason – Sparky
Shannon has been with Winchester Electrical since the beginning and has played a key role in the company's growth.
After making a career change from butcher to electrician, Shannon embraced the challenge and quickly developed into a highly capable and trusted member of the team. He enjoys the variety of residential electrical work and takes pride in delivering quality results for customers.
A born-and-bred Cantabrian, Shannon enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. Outside of work, you'll often find him running, playing golf, or attending live music events.
Leo Marryatt – sparky
Leo joined Winchester Electrical in 2021 as a first-year apprentice and has grown into a skilled electrician through hard work, dedication, and a willingness to learn.
He enjoys the variety that residential electrical work offers and particularly likes technical jobs that require problem-solving and attention to detail. No two days are the same, and that's exactly how Leo likes it.
When he's not on the tools, Leo enjoys going to the gym, gaming, and spending time with his family in Twizel.
Hannah Broderick – Sparky
Hannah joined the team in 2026, bringing several years of industry experience and a passion for residential electrical work.
She particularly enjoys kitchen and bathroom renovations and loves being involved in projects that transform homes and improve the way people live.
Having recently purchased her own home, Hannah spends much of her spare time working on projects around the house and putting her practical skills to good use.
Joe Rademaker – Apprentice
Joe joined Winchester Electrical in 2026 and is excited to be building his future in the electrical industry.
After facing a few challenges finding the right apprenticeship opportunity, he's eager to learn, gain experience, and develop his skills as part of the Winchester team.
